Step 2: Clearing the Lace

For those who occasionally use adhesive on their glueless units: Never pull on dry glue. Use a lace-release solvent to dissolve residue first. Glueless wearers should still wipe the lace perimeter with a damp cloth to remove any scalp oils or makeup buildup.

Step 3: The Vertical Hydro-Wash

Hold the unit by the internal crown and let lukewarm water flow downward. Apply a sulfate-free shampoo in a smoothing, downward motion. This aligns the cuticles and prevents "inversion"—where hair pulls through to the inside of the cap.

Step 4: Zonal Conditioning

To prevent shedding, follow the Elite Knot-Protection Rule: Conditioner must never touch the lace. Smoothing agents can lubricate the hand-tied knots, causing them to untie. Focus your professional conditioner strictly from the mid-lengths to the ends.

Step 5: Air-Dry for Longevity

Gently press the unit with a microfiber towel and place it on a wig stand. Air-drying preserves the elasticity of the lace and ensures the hair retains its natural luster without heat damage.
