HAIR EXTENSIONS MAINTENANCE GUIDE

BRUSHING

TREATMENTS
How Often Should You treat your Hair Extensions ?
1 Every week for blonde or dye hair
1 Every week if you use heat often
1 Every fortnight if you don’t use heat often
Apply a 50 cent piece size amount of Elite Hair Therapy Mask to mid lengths and ends of hair (do not apply to scalp) and leave for 10 to 30 minutes.
Your extensions don’t receive the natural oils from your scalp. Dry your hair gently, don’t rub it with a towel but move in a downward motion from roots to ends. Gently detangle your hair.
Never use products containing protein, keratin, sulphates and high alcohol contents. These products will destroy your extensions making them knotty and unmanageable. This can occur after only one use and is irreversible. These products are always found in low quality products as well as hair reconstruct products (even high-quality salon quality brands). Proteins can be hidden in products so it is important to use the Elite Hair Australia hair care range as this is designed for the hair extensions. It contains no nasties therefore is great for your natural hair as well.

WASHING ROUTINE
Apply a small amount of Elite Hair Therapy shampoo (about the size of a 20-50 cent piece), rub through hands then apply to the scalp only, lather and massage scalp (do not apply shampoo to hair mids-ends, it does not need it)
Repeat shampoo (this is important to properly clean the scalp) and rinse
Condition your hair after every wash. Your extensions don’t receive the natural oils from your scalp. Do not apply conditioner in the root area or near the attachments. It can loosen the bonds and make your extensions fall out. Dry your hair gently, don’t rub it with a towel but move in a downward motion from roots to ends. Gently detangle your hair.Rinse hair in warm water and blast with cooler water before exiting shower to close cuticle of hair.

DRYING & STYLING
If combing/brushing concentrate on mid lengths to ends only
Finish off with heat styling to make hair silky and less prone to tangling.
Swimming/wet hair handling
- Avoid long exposure to chlorine and salt water. Chlorine and salt water can cause the hair to tangle and mat up.
- -Brush hair/detangle hair before swimming
It is recommended to wear a swim cap if possible or wear your hair up to keep it out of the water. - After swimming it is best rinse hair in fresh water then wash your hair to shampoo and condition & treatment h immediately. In general, it is a good habit to wear your hair up or in a ponytail when you exercise
- Wear hair in low loose plait, never in a top knot/bun when hair is wet
Avoid combing/brushing hair when wet or damp as the hair is weak when wet therefore more risk of extensions pulling out. Blow dry and then comb/brush gently.
Additional Information:
For the first week following application wear hair in low ponytails and styles only or leave hair out.
